Ancient MAYAN FOOD - Jungle Cooking in MAYA VILLAGE in Quintana Roo, Mexico!

Ancient MAYAN FOOD - Jungle Cooking in MAYA VILLAGE in Quintana Roo, Mexico!

Ancient Mayan food in Quintana Roo, Mexico!\n►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week: http://bit.ly/MarkWiensSubscribe\n►T-shirts available now: https://migrationology.com/store/\n\nOne of the experiences I really wanted to have when I visit the Quintana Roo state of Mexico, was to learn about, cook, and eat authentic ancient Mayan food. So we rented a van, and drove over to the small jungle Mayan village of Chunhuhub, to meet up with Kíichpam K'áax (https://selvabonita.com/en/home/), who are aiming to preserve their Mayan culture.\n\nIt was about a 3.5 hour drive to get to Chunhuhub from Playa Del Carmen, so by the time we arrived we were all pretty hungry. We walked through the milpa (Mesoamerican crop growing system), and finally to the kitchen within the jungle of the property.\n\nThey were already busy cooking, preparing a few traditional Mayan foods, like a variety of tamales and cochinita pibil. They prepared everything to be cooked in the pib, the ancient Mayan traditional way of cooking - an underground hot rock oven (there are many cultures around the world who have used or still use a similar underground cooking technique).\n\nTok-sel - One of the most fascinating dishes they cooked was white beans, and they took a hot rock out of the fire, stuck it into the pan with the beans, and roasted them with the rock. It was incredible to see, and the beans had an incredible ummai flavor to them. They were delicious especially when paired with freshly made corn tortillas.\n\nAchiote (annatto) - An interesting ingredients, used commonly in Mayan food and cooking, is achiote, a pod filled with red / orange fruit. It has a slight pepper and lemony taste, and also makes everything that uses it, bright orange.\n\nCochinita pibil - One of the main ingredients in cochinita pibil is achiote. They had pre-marinated it, and it cooked underground as well. The flavor of the pork was amazing, and with tortillas, onions, and salsa, it was truly support.\n\nWe had a number of different tamales as well, all of which were totally different from any tamales I’ve ever had. They were hearty and packed full of corn and beans, and very filling. They were a little on the dry side, but I fully enjoyed learning about them, and watching them being made. The different leaves, including the hoja santa, was great to learn about.\n\nSpecial thanks to Centro Ecoturistico Kíichpam K'áax (https://selvabonita.com/en/home/) for putting everything together. They have an eco lodge and offer various off the beaten path activities like this.\nMap data ©2018 Google\n\nThank you for watching this food in Mexico - ancient Mayan food video. WONTON NOODLES! Indian Chinese Street Food in CHINATOWN Kolkata India

Ever since arriving in India I was told that I must try some Indian Chinese food which is quite different than the typical Chinese food I've had all my life. So I went to Chinatown in Kolkata India to try some dumplings, noodles and spicy chicken. The Chinatown in India was not what I expected, mainly because there were not that many Chinese people. Also the food does taste like a very unique mix of Indian and Chinese cuisine. We first went to Territy Bazar which is in Chinatown and it's a market that is open very very early and closes soon as the food is sold out. Street Food & Insane SEAFOOD in Mumbai India

Street Food & Insane SEAFOOD in Mumbai India

If you love street food, then Juhu Beach is the place to be when in Mumbai. It's a popular hangout place for locals and tourists where you can find a variety of stalls selling Indian food, Pan Asian food, and all sorts of desserts. \n\nRight after the stop for street food, we went to a Gomantak Restaurant that specializes in Malvani cuisine, which basically serves a lot of seafood. One of the must-try items was the Bombay Duck Fry (which isn't duck, but fish) as well as the Pomfret Masala.\n\nShawarmas are a very popular street snack in India, and I went a little crazy and went for a chocolate shawarma that a nearby restaurant stall sold. It was pretty interesting and a combination I have never thought of. \n\nFinally, we ended it all with some Kulfi! Kulfi is a very authentic type of Indian ice cream that is super creamy! The man who sells it has been at this location for over 23 years! What's crazy is that he gets up every morning, makes it for 5-6 hours, rides his bike for one hour (with this huge bin of kulfi ON the bike), sells it, rides his bike back, and repeats! His hard work really pays off, because this was probably the best kulfi I have had in India.\n\n\nLocations:\n1:15 Juhu Beach \n\n11:01 Nice Fast Food Corner\nhttps://www.zomato.com/mumbai/nice-fast-food-corner-santacruz-west\n\n13:19 Konkan Swad\nhttps://www.zomato.com/mumbai/konkan-swad-goregaon-west\n\n18:57 Shawarma (Chocolate Shawarma)\nFood stall next to Yasin's Food Inn \nhttps://www.zomato.com/mumbai/yasins-food-inn-andheri-lokhandwala\n\n21:39 Kulfi Stall (he sells it from about 5pm-1am)\nLocated across the street from a parking lot and a bus station on Lokhandwala Complex Rd (a 1 min walk) near Lokhandwala Circle, Shastri Nagar, Andheri West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400047 \n\n➨Get tickets to the best show on earth!!! http://bit.ly/2gu7REI\n\n❖Support me on Patreon (I post FOOD MAPS): http://bit.ly/2lc36om\nStrictly Dumpling T-Shirts HERE: http://bit.ly/2zp2PRL\n\n►Subscribe for MORE videos about food! http://bit.ly/1hsxh41\n▲ Subscribe to our COOKING Channel! http://bit.ly/2vz2UPT\n\n------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\n★↓FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA!↓★\nFacebook Show Page: https://www.facebook.com/strictlydumpling\nFacebook Mike Fan Page: https://www.facebook.com/mikeychenx\nStrictly Dumpling Instagram: http://instagr.am/haveadumpling\nPersonal Instagram: http://instagr.am/Mikexingchen\nTwitter: http://twitter.com/Mikexingchen\nTwitch: https://www.twitch.tv/mikexchen\n\n◈ Equipment I use for filming◈ :\nSony RX100 Mark V http://amzn.to/2fZwuMG\nPANASONIC LUMIX G85 http://amzn.to/2wx2j5G\nWide Angle Lens http://amzn.to/2g0bbdC\nCamera Mic: http://amzn.to/2fZf4j6\nCamera Lights: http://amzn.to/2vXypVK\nHandheld Audio Recorder: http://amzn.to/2xlmPTO\nTripod: http://amzn.to/2vXA5yE\nDrone: http://amzn.to/2x6KqII\n\nMy Favorite Cookware!\nwok/pan http://amzn.to/2f5G0up\nAlso this pan http://amzn.to/2f5Qnyi\nPressure pan http://amzn.to/2wJIS7u\nNonstick pot http://amzn.to/2wHRgq1\n\n✉Send stuff to our PO Box!\nMike Chen \nPO Box 610 \nMiddletown, NY 10940\n\n\n♫ Music by Epidemic Sound (http://www.epidemicsound.com)\n\n♩ Wheel Of Karma by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)\nArtist: http://audionautix.com/\n♩ Jalandhar / Balzan Groove - Vadodara by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)\nSource: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1400018\nArtist: http://incompetech.com/\n♩ Beach by Joakim Karud http://soundcloud.com/joakimkarud\n♩ Beach Dayz by Lakey Inspired https://soundcloud.com/lakeyinspired

Korean Food Tour - SHORT RIBS BBQ and Juicy FRIED CHICKEN on 14-Hour Incheon Airport Layover!

Korean Food Tour - SHORT RIBS BBQ and Juicy FRIED CHICKEN on 14-Hour Incheon Airport Layover!

Korean food tour on Incheon Airport layover!\n►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week: http://bit.ly/MarkWiensSubscribe\n►T-shirts available now: https://migrationology.com/store/\n\nFlying from Bangkok to Honolulu, my wife and I had a 14 hour layover at Incheon International Airport. I’ve been to Seoul a few times already, but I had actually never been to Incheon, the city where the airport is really located. So we decided to head into Incheon city, eat as much as possible on our airport layover, then return to the airport to catch our next flight.\n\nSinpo International Market - We started off at Sinpo International Market. It was extremely cold, and we were freezing!\n\nSinpo Charm (신포참닭강정) - Sinpo Market is known throughout Korea for their amazing Korean fried chicken which is known as dakgangjeong. It’s a sweet spicy fried chicken, and you’ll find about half a dozen restaurants in this market serving it. The chicken was pretty tasty and addictive, but it was too sweet for me.\nTotal price - 18,000 KRW ($16.86)\n\nCoffee - 8,700 KRW ($8.15) for 2 - It was so unbelievably cold in \nIncheon, that we couldn’t really walk around very long, so we stopped to have a cup of coffee and warm up a bit.\n\nKorean BBQ (탑숯불갈비) - This was one of the best Korean barbecue kalbi (beef short ribs) experiences I’ve had in Korea. It was a friendly family run restaurant and everything from the short ribs to all the sides, were spectacular. If I had an Incheon Airport layover and wanted to leave the airport, just eating a Korean bbq meal like this would be worth it.\nTotal price - 32,000 KRW ($29.97)\n\nAmericano - 4,000 KRW ($3.75) - We had another cup of coffee, it was so cold.\n\nHongdubyeong (홍두병) - 2,000 KRW ($1.87) - Incheon, South Korea, is famous for its Chinatown. Although it was a bit quiet when we went, it was still nice to walk around. There’s a snack you have to try called Hongdubyeong (홍두병).\n\nSang-Won (상원) Restaurant - Finally to end this Korean food tour of Incheon on our layover, we went to one last restaurant to eat a dish you can’t miss when you visit Incheon - Jajangmyeon. It was my first time to really have an authentic version of the dish, and even though it doesn’t look all that appealing, it’s absolutely delicious. Incheon is the birthplace of jajangmyeon, which is a Korean Chinese dish.\nTotal price - 13,500 KRW ($12.64)\n\nTaxi from Incheon to Airport - 37,500 KRW ($35.12)\n\nWe were so tired, we decided to take a taxi back to the airport. And it proved to be much easier and not that expensive than public transportation. I’d recommend just taking a taxi if you go to Incheon during your airport layover.\n\nMUSIC: From the underground - https://goo.gl/HwVjdo\n\n***CAMERA GEAR*** I used to make this video (these are affiliate links):\nMain camera: http://amzn.to/2sV0XQO\nMain lens: http://amzn.to/2szLZNf\n2nd lens: http://amzn.to/2EjBeEg\nMicrophone: http://amzn.to/2rBKD3z\nDrone: http://amzn.to/2CrtAHz\n\nI would love to connect with you!\n\nInstagram: https://instagram.com/migrationology\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/migrationology\n\nT-shirts available now: https://migrationology.com/store/

Food in Hawaii - POKE BOWLS and Seafood at Tanioka’s in Waipahu, Hawaii!

►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week: http://bit.ly/MarkWiensSubscribe\n►T-shirts available now: https://migrationology.com/store/\n\nTanioka’s is a local hole in the wall food spot in Waipahu, Hawaii, that I’d been wanting to eat at for many years. Finally, we made the drive out to Waipahu (about 30 mins or so from Honolulu), ordered some food, and ate it on the beach.\n\nTanioka’s Seafood and Catering - Waipahu, Hawaii - It’s a local Hawaii food spot, known for their takeaway bentos and lunchboxes, poke, and musubi. They also have a full cabinet of different deep fried things - like fish patties, tempura, and mochiko chicken. When you walk in, you immediately stand in line and pass through the line ordering whatever you see that looks good. One thing you can be certain of is that all their fish is extremely fresh. I was very excited, but it’s one of those places that you order a bunch of food, but you always feel like you missed ordering something important.\n\nHere’s most of what I ordered:\n\nSpam musubi / deluxe spam musubi\nFish patties\nFutomaki\nPoke bowl with fried belly\nSpicy ahi bento\nPoi mochi\n\nTotal price - $67.90\n\nIt’s not cheap at all, but it’s typical Hawaii prices.\n\nAfter getting the bags of food, I wanted to go eat somewhere along the beach. Since I don’t typically get out to the West Coast of Oahu very often, we decided to drive out to Kahe Point. The views were spectacular and we walked around for a little while, but there wasn’t a good grassy area to sit, so we continued on to Ko Olina. Ko Olina is a resort and golf course area, which amazing calm lagoons and grassy areas, perfect to dig into a Hawaii beach feast from Tanioka’s!\n\nMUSIC: Roots Rockin - https://goo.gl/HwVjdo\n\n***CAMERA GEAR*** I used to make this video (these are affiliate links):\nMain camera: http://amzn.to/2sV0XQO\nMain lens: http://amzn.to/2szLZNf\n2nd lens: http://amzn.to/2EjBeEg\nMicrophone: http://amzn.to/2rBKD3z\nDrone: http://amzn.to/2CrtAHz\n\nI would love to connect with you!\nInstagram: https://instagram.com/migrationology\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/migrationology\n\nT-shirts available now: https://migrationology.com/store/\n\nThank you for watching this Hawaii food video!
