Village Food in West Africa - BEST FUFU and EXTREME Hospitality in Rural Ghana!

This was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had!►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week: http://bit.ly/MarkWiensSubscribe►T-shirts and caps available now: https://migrationology.com/store/Many thanks to Afia Tours (https://www.afiatours-ghana.com/) for taking on this amazing village food day trip in Ghana (Note: I paid for this tour, it is not sponsored, but I fully recommend it - it was awesome)! It was about a three hour drive from Accra to get to the village. The village was somewhere in the central Cape Coast region of Ghana (however no near to the coast, but much inland). The people from the village were so incredibly friendly, and it was one of the most genuinely hospitable and friendly villages I’ve ever visited. It was an honor and privilege to spend time at the village. As we arrived, they had already started cooking some Ghanaian food specialties. One the menu, we had banku with okra soup, fufu (a staple of West African food) with palm nut soup, and finally fried plantains with beans. All the food was incredibly good, and it was one of the best bowls of fufu I ate during my entire time in Ghana. Thanks again to Afia Tours (https://www.afiatours-ghana.com/) for setting this up!MUSIC: https://goo.gl/HwVjdo (I’m On My Way)***CAMERA GEAR*** I used to make this video (these are affiliate links):Main camera: http://amzn.to/2sV0XQOMain lens: http://amzn.to/2szLZNf2nd lens: http://amzn.to/2EjBeEgMicrophone: http://amzn.to/2rBKD3zDrone: http://amzn.to/2CrtAHzI would love to connect with you!Instagram: https://instagram.com/migrationologyFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/migrationologyT-shirts available now: https://migrationology.com/store/

Teppanyaki LOBSTER & STEAK - Amazing Knife Skills and Fire Cooking in Waikiki, Hawaii!

First time eating teppanyaki in Waikiki, Hawaii!\n►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week: http://bit.ly/MarkWiensSubscribe\n►T-shirts available now: https://migrationology.com/store/\n\nNOTE: This video is not sponsored, I paid for this meal in full. But Barry was able to ensure that he got to cook for us. Thanks Barry!\n\nTanaka of Tokyo Restaurant\n\nDuring my visit to Honolulu, Hawaii to visit family I started posting some photos on Instagram. I got a message from Barry, who is a world renowned teppanyaki chef expert - he’s even traveling the world teaching how to cook teppanyaki. So when he asked if I would come in to the restaurant he works at, and he would do the cooking, I knew it would be a great opportunity - not only for the food but for the amazing cooking skill.\n\nTanaka of Tokyo is Japanese teppanyaki restaurant in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii. There’s an interesting history surrounding teppanyaki - it’s a Japanese meal, although it was invited to cook Western style. Funny thing is, it’s more popular outside of Japan than in Japan, and I’ve never even had it in Japan. So this was my first time to really have a proper teppanyaki meal.\n\nI asked the waitress what she recommended and it was a set that included lobster, steak, and scallops, plus some Hawaiian style poke to begin with.\n\nOur entire teppanyaki meal was extremely entertaining. The food was delicious and very high quality, but the cooking and show was a highlight. Our whole family enjoyed it from the start to finish. Barry is an amazing chef and he has incredible knife and fire skills!\n\nEating teppanyaki at Tanaka of Tokyo is not a cheap meal, but you not only pay for the food, but for the entire dining show.\n\nTotal price - $213.30\n\nSpecial thanks to Barry for his amazing cooking!\n\nMUSIC: It Is What It Is - https://goo.gl/HwVjdo\n\n***CAMERA GEAR*** I used to make this video (these are affiliate links):\nMain camera: http://amzn.to/2sV0XQO\nMain lens: http://amzn.to/2szLZNf\n2nd lens: http://amzn.to/2EjBeEg\nMicrophone: http://amzn.to/2rBKD3z\nDrone: http://amzn.to/2CrtAHz\n\nI would love to connect with you!\n\nInstagram: https://instagram.com/migrationology\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/migrationology\n\nT-shirts available now: https://migrationology.com/store/\n\nThank you for watching this teppanyaki steak and lobster video!

Starting in the evening at around 4 pm, the entire road starts to fill with street food carts selling all sorts of Thai dishes. You’ll find everything from rice and curry to soup noodles, snacks, and fresh fruits and vegetables. It had been a few years since I had explore Petchaburi Soi 5 (เพชรบุรี ซอย 5), so in this Thai street food tour I’m taking you with me to some of my old favorites, and some new spots. Enjoy!\n\nYam mama (ยำมาม่า) - 50 THB ($1.52) - This is the first dish I tried. MAMA are Thai instant noodles and this is a completely different way to eat them - in mixed salad form.\n\nKhanom krok (ขนมครก) - 30 THB ($0.92) - Coconut griddle cakes are one of my favorites, they are crunchy on the outside and gooey in the center. Don’t miss this Thai street food snack.\n\nCha yen (ชาเย็น) - 25 THB ($0.76) per cup - Thai tea\n\nPad thai (ผัดไทย), Hoy tod (หอยทอด) - This was formerly a street food cart that now has their own permanent shophouse location. They make pretty decent Pad Thai and they hoy tod, which in this case in a mussels omelet, is pretty good as well.\nTotal price - 125 THB ($3.81)\n\nNam prik pla too (น้ำพริกปลาทู) - For something a little healthier, I’m a huge fan of nam pirk pla too, a pounded chili mackerel sauce that’s eaten with vegetables.\nTotal price - 70 THB ($2.14) for everything\n\nChao guay (เฉาก๋วย) - 25 THB ($0.76) - For dessert, I had grass jelly with ice. The owner was so friendly and happy.\n\nHaircut - 100 THB ($3.05)\n\nPad kra prao moo krob kai dao (ผัดกระเพราหมูกรอบไข่ดาว) - Final meal of this Bangkok street food tour, I headed across the street to Petchaburi Soi 10 to seek out one of my old time favorites. The stall was still there, and they make a pretty good plate of Thai crispy pork belly fried with basil.\nPrice - 40 THB ($1.22)\n\nThank you for joining me on this Thai street food tour of Petchaburi Soi 5 (เพชรบุรี ซอย 5). It’s the type of street you can walk through and just choose whatever you like to eat.\n\nMUSIC: Give a Little - https://goo.gl/HwVjdo\n\n***CAMERA GEAR*** I used to make this video (these are affiliate links):\nMain camera: http://amzn.to/2sV0XQO\nMain lens: http://amzn.to/2szLZNf\n2nd lens: http://amzn.to/2EjBeEg\nMicrophone: http://amzn.to/2rBKD3z\nDrone: http://amzn.to/2CrtAHz\n\nI would love to connect with you!\nInstagram: https://instagram.com/migrationology\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/migrationology\n\nT-shirts available now: https://migrationology.com/store/

Watch all 8 videos here:Koh Chang (เกาะช้าง) - Koh Chang is a beautiful jungle island in the Trat province of Thailand. It’s quite close to the mainland, and it’s a big enough island where you can take your car across the ferry to the island so that you can drive there. This was my first time to visit Koh Chang. I really wanted to explore the eastern side of the island, which is less visited and less developed to check out some food and fishing villages.Kai Bae Beach - We started off at Kai Bae Beach.Nong Anat Khao Gaeng (น้องอานัสข้าวแกงปักษ์ใต้) - This street food stall sells amazing southern Thai food curries, and this is where we first stopped for breakfast.Beef dry curry (คั่วกลิ้งเนื้อ)Beef soup (ซุปเนื้อ)Dried fried fish (ปลาแดดเดียวทอด)Total price - 190 THB ($$6.08)The Coffee Home - Coffee wasn’t very good, but the scenery was great.Americano - 60 THB ($1.92)Coconut Organic Garden - This place is a must stop in Koh Chang. He’s such a friendly passionate man, who takes pride in his fruit, and he’ll serve you an amazing coconut shake.Total price - 100 THB ($3.20)Salak Khok (ชุมชนบ้านสลักคอก) - This is one of the few remaining traditional Koh Chang island fishing villages, and it’s a great place to see local life and take a walk.Sakak Khok Seafood (สลักคอกซีฟู้ด) - One of the ways you can support the fishing community is by eating at the seafood restaurant. Even though it was quiet when we went there, the food was amazing, and it was so relaxing. Our bill was a bit expensive, but over half of it was because of the mantis shrimp.Fried mantis shrimp (กั้งทอดกระเทียม)Dried fried cuttlefish (ปลาหมึกแดดเดียว)Shrimp salad (กุ้งพล่า)Prik kleua (พริกเกลือ)Total price - 1,760 THB ($56.29)Long Beach (หาดทรายยาว) - This is a beach at the end of Koh Chang. Overall, I wasn’t that impressed.Salak Phet (อ่าวสลักเพชร) - At the end the day we headed to Salak Phet, another village and bay. First we walked on the boardwalk over the mangroves - views were pretty fantastic, but it wasn’t in great shape. I still enjoyed it.Krua Saeng Arun (ครัวแสงอรุณ) - Final end to the day we had another seafood restaurant, this time, it was alright, but not very good.Crab cakes (หอยจ้อปู)Mullet sour soup (ต้มส้มปลากระบอก)Scallops (หอยเซลล์ผัดฉ่า)Total price - 740 THB ($24.67)Hope this Koh Chang (เกาะช้าง) food and travel guide will give you some ideas for your trip. So we rented a van, and drove over to the small jungle Mayan village of Chunhuhub, to meet up with Kíichpam K'áax (https://selvabonita.com/en/home/), who are aiming to preserve their Mayan culture.\n\nIt was about a 3.5 hour drive to get to Chunhuhub from Playa Del Carmen, so by the time we arrived we were all pretty hungry. We walked through the milpa (Mesoamerican crop growing system), and finally to the kitchen within the jungle of the property.\n\nThey were already busy cooking, preparing a few traditional Mayan foods, like a variety of tamales and cochinita pibil. They prepared everything to be cooked in the pib, the ancient Mayan traditional way of cooking - an underground hot rock oven (there are many cultures around the world who have used or still use a similar underground cooking technique).\n\nTok-sel - One of the most fascinating dishes they cooked was white beans, and they took a hot rock out of the fire, stuck it into the pan with the beans, and roasted them with the rock. It was incredible to see, and the beans had an incredible ummai flavor to them. They were delicious especially when paired with freshly made corn tortillas.\n\nAchiote (annatto) - An interesting ingredients, used commonly in Mayan food and cooking, is achiote, a pod filled with red / orange fruit. It has a slight pepper and lemony taste, and also makes everything that uses it, bright orange.\n\nCochinita pibil - One of the main ingredients in cochinita pibil is achiote. They had pre-marinated it, and it cooked underground as well. The flavor of the pork was amazing, and with tortillas, onions, and salsa, it was truly support.\n\nWe had a number of different tamales as well, all of which were totally different from any tamales I’ve ever had. They were hearty and packed full of corn and beans, and very filling. They were a little on the dry side, but I fully enjoyed learning about them, and watching them being made. The different leaves, including the hoja santa, was great to learn about.\n\nSpecial thanks to Centro Ecoturistico Kíichpam K'áax (https://selvabonita.com/en/home/) for putting everything together. They have an eco lodge and offer various off the beaten path activities like this.\nMap data ©2018 Google\n\nThank you for watching this food in Mexico - ancient Mayan food video.
