Don't Forget to SUBSCIRBE to our YouTube Channel\n---- http://bit.ly/SUBSCRIBE-ViralInIndia ----\n---------------------------------------------------------------------------------\n￭ आमचे नवीन व्हिडीओ पाहा - http://bit.ly/ViralIndiaVideos ￭\n\nकोरेगाव भिमाची लढाई\n\nGround Zero Report on Koregav Bhima - https://www.bbc.com/marathi/international-42550390\n\nWikipedia Information about this video - \n https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Koregaon\n\nकोरेगाव भिमाची लढाई ही महाराष्ट्राच्या पुणे जिल्ह्यामधील कोरेगाव भिमा या गावात भीमा नदीच्या काठावर झालेली एक ऐतिहासिक लढाई आहे. ही लढाई १ जानेवारी इ.स. १८१८ रोजी इंग्रज ब्रिटिश ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी व मराठा साम्राज्य यांच्यात झाली होती.[२] ब्रिटिशांच्या बाजूने एकूण ८३४ सैनिक होते, ज्यांचे नेतृत्व सेनापती कॅप्टन फ्रान्सिस एफ. स्टाँटन करीत होता तर मराठा साम्राज्याच्या बाजूने २८,००० सैनिक होते, ज्याचे नेतृत्व सेनापती पेशवा बाजीराव दुसरा करीत होता. इंग्रजांच्या सैनिकांत 'बॉम्बे नेटिव लाइट इन्फेंट्री तुकडी'चे ५०० महार सैनिक होते, काही युरोपियन व इतर काही सैनिक होते. मराठ्यांच्या सैनिकांत मराठा, अरब व गोसाई या सैनिकांचा समावेश होता.[३] पेशवाईच्या काळात अस्पृश्यतेचे पालन मोठ्या प्रमाणावर होत होते व महार, मांग व इतर अस्पृश्यांना अत्यंत हीन वागणूक दिली जात असे, याला विरोध म्हणून महार सैनिक आत्मसन्मासाठी ब्रिटिशांच्या बाजूने मराठ्यांविरूद्ध लढले आणि विजयी झाले.[४][५][६][७] या युद्धात पराभूत झालेल्या मराठा साम्राज्याचा अस्त झाला.[८]\n\nकोरेगाव भिमाच्या युद्धानंतर ब्रिटिशांनी शूर महार सैनिकांच्या स्मरणार्थ भीमा नदीच्या काठी ७५ फूट उंच विजयस्तंभ उभारून त्यावर २० शहिद व ३ जखमी महार सैनिकांची नावे कोरलेली असून स्तंभावर लिहिले आहे — ‘One of the Triumphs of the British Army of the Earth’.\n\nमहार सैनिकांच्या सन्मानार्थ येथील विजयस्तंभाला मानवंदना देण्यासाठी दरवर्षी १ जानेवारी रोजी महाराष्ट्रासह देशभरातून बौद्ध (पूर्वाश्रमीचे महार), दलित, शीख व इतर जातीचे लोकही लाखोंच्या संख्येने येत असतात. बुद्धमुर्ती व डॉ. आंबेडकरांची प्रतिमा समोर ठेवून बुद्धवंदना घेऊन शहिद सैनिकांच्या विजयस्तंभाला मानवंदना दिली जाते.\n\nThe Battle of Koregaon was fought on 1 January 1818 between the British East India Company and the Peshwa faction of the Maratha Confederacy, at Koregaon Bhima. A 28,000-strong force led by Peshwa Baji Rao II intended to attack Pune, which was held by the British. On their way, they were met by an 800-strong Company force that was on its way to reinforce the British troops in Pune. The Peshwa dispatched around 2,000 soldiers to attack the Company force entrenched in Koregaon. Led by Captain Francis Staunton, the Company troops defended their position for nearly 12 hours. The Peshwa's troops ultimately withdrew, because of the imminent arrival of a larger British force led by Brig. General Joseph Smith.\n\nThe Peshwa's army comprised 20,000 cavalry and 8,000 infantry.
